My finish buff

When I am finished with my final buff , the knife looks good. After it's in a pocket or handled for a few it seems to scratch pretty easily. Am I doing something wrong? Or is a highly buffed and polished finish pretty delicate?

Thanks,
Chad

Are you talking the blade or the handle?

What types of materials are you using, and what finish are you getting after? Semi-gloss, full mirror, etc.

Any mirror finish will show every place that something touches it. The dust floating in the air...and on your fingers will be harder than the steel blade. This is not a problem for normal surfaces, which are made of millions of tiny scratches, but in a mirror finish every new mark looks like the Grand Canyon.

If you have to have mirror polished blades either don't ever use or carry them...or accept that they will slowly become covered with scratches.

A matte finish, or Scotch Brite belt finish will look and last much longer than a mirror finish.

Yes sir I am talking the mirror finish. Looks real cool but does not last long at all if you intend to carry or use the knife.
Thanks
Chad
