my first 110 , in cpm-154 or s30v?

I would go with an s30v. has about 59-60 rockwell hardness and great corrosion resistance. buck says that is is its "best steel" too.

I am hard pressed to see any practical difference between CPM154 and S30V. That said, my main 'user' is a Bass Pro CPM154 or a 440C two dot.

With vanadium in the mix the two will sharpen differently . If considering edge retention perhaps not much . If wanting a mirror polished blade out of the two one will realize a big difference, espically if your doing the polishing . DM

APF, I know your talking 'pratical' differences; without delving into the steels chemical differences which may not mean much even with good heat treat other than the higher V content of the one and higher moly of the other, they are close . Now, should we give a guy a 110 of one steel for a week to use . Then another 110 the second week with the other steel . Telling him to use them then at the end of two weeks tell us the steel type . Well, I know I'd be hard pressed to tell the difference . So, I see your point . DM
