UPS brought me my first 532 today !!! Its a 1992 BCCI gold etct blade and NC bolsters,I am not sure of the wood.... and straped it on 20 min. after I opened the box! This was the toughest call yet on actualy carrying and using, a nice collector Buck....I had the same problem with last years BCCI 111 that I also put into limited use/rotation. It seemed almost a sin to take such a fancy Buck [that gold!] and put it to use but KathyJo [honeybunch for 29 years] looked at it and said "Who are you saving it for ? " when I told her I should put "This One" it in my toybox....Now I have TWO nice Bucks I can carry,enjoy,show-off,and actualy use if I need to......It makes me feel so "special" !!! At last years Blade show in Alanta Chuck stated that the 532 was his personal favorit... at that time I had not even seen one..I wasent even sure just what a 532 was but Dave told me it was like a slimed down 112..Right then and there I decided to get one but it has taken a year to put it in my hand..It sure was worth the wait!!!! It seems " gracefull" and really light in my hand compared to the 110/112 ..I like it!!! I dont think it will be my last one !

Clint, my guess is that you must have it right since it surely must have the 532 stamp on the blade, and it is indeed my favorite knife as well. However, the 1992 BCCI member knife is a 535; the 532 is the 1993 knife. So now welcome to the 532 addiction as well as that for the 112!! :)

Edit: All 532's have NK bolsters; handles on that knife should be birch.

I have it in my hand right now and its for sure a 532.....Mirror polished blade, looks like light filework in the"blade channel and back spine" I know thats not the right terms. It has 2 tiny rivits [1/16 or even 1/32] and dark strait grain wood.."1992 Buck Collector Club 1 of 500 " on the banner ribbon under BUCK in gold with the man and andvil on to of that...My son has my camera down in Wesley Chapel its a 140 mile round trip, Im going to make HIM burn the gas to bring it back! Ill post a pic as soon as I can I think a lot of BCCI life members have one like it...

Something not quite right here: I just pulled mine out and it does indeed have "1993 Buck Collector Club 1 of 500", and the 532 was indeed the member knife for 1993, not 1992, so you might have another "oops knife."

Edit: Also, the 1993 BCCI member knife did not come with a sheath; it came with a display rack that hangs on the wall.

Mr Sue, can you share a breif history???? Has it always been a LE/custom ? I aint seen one in Wally World for sure!

Clint, my odd 112 Buck brother.....welcome to the true Buck fever. That 532 is proof that you have just crossed over and have become obsessed with all Bucks like the rest of us!!! Resistance is futile...buy them all and let God sort them out;)

Yep, here's a little history, but I don't take credit for it as it is written by Greg Smith and is posted on the BCCI website. The 532 made it's first appearance in the 1991 catalog along with the 531 and 535, originally introduced as sawbies in the 1988 catalog, but that were later redesigned at lockbacks. The model line was discontinued in 1994, but the 532 has continued to be used as limited edition knives ever since that time. The very first BCCI member knife was a 531 sawby issued in 1990, followed by a 531 lockback in 1991, a 535 lockback in 1992, and then a 532 lockback in 1993. So that is why I do not understand why you have a 532 BCCI annual member knife with 1992 on the blade; something just not right there. By the way, there were also a total of five 532 sawbies made at the same time the 531 and 535 sawbies were made, and those are obviously extremely rare. I know where three are currently located; wish one was mine, but would probably need a second mortgage on my home to buy one. Hope this helps.

i don not a think i wood use it me self...

Clint, does it have a BCCI member number stamped on the reverse side of the blade??

Didn't we run into something else a while back, where the etch or doc, says one year, and the tang stamp was a year previous? Can't remember now what the knife or occasion was.

older n dust just sux

Here is another interesting one. This is my 1991 BCCI 531 lockback. Date stamp is 1991 but if you look underneath the club logo it says "Buck Knives Inc. 1992" so this knife must have been done in 1992 but with a 1991 blade.

Well after doing some research it appears as if the 1991 club knife wasn't released until December of 1992. That still doesn't explain bucksway's knife though :)

Pack Rat and Morestag, we're kinda talking about two different things here. I am not referring to a comparison of the year date on the blade etching to the year date stamp on the blade tang. I certainly understand that those two dates can be, and often are, different as earlier year-dated stamped production blades can be used on knives manufactured in a later year. But the year date on the blade ETCHING for any given year's ANNUAL (i.e., year) member only knife should certainly be the same for any given year. Anything else is certainly an anomaly. I hope this makes sense!!

There is no doubt that the 1992 club knife should be a 535. bucksway's knife is an anomaly for sure. Some pictures would be great. I posted my 531 because it was slightly related to what was being discussed. I should have just looked up the old newsletter to start with. Sorry for any confusion. Now back to the regularly scheduled program :)
