First off, I'd like to thank some of the denizens of this forum for their great info and assistance. I've been reading & learning and admiring your Sebbies quietly. I've wanted one for a long time. This one arrived yesterday, and a second should arrive tomorrow. :D

It's not only my first Sebbie, but it's the first in a series of knives I'm having made. 3 knives, one representing each child, each made by a different knifemaker. I will carry them until I can't, and then they will be given to each child. Sort of a family heirloom project with some meaning. This one is representative of my 2 yr. old daughter, who sat next to me on the couch as I opened the box, and who cried out "TURTLE!" once she saw the knife. She was as thrilled as I was. It's design is based on The Legend Of Kauila - a legend that has great meaning to my wife and I and bearing on the birth of our daughter.

I thought you guys might enjoy the photos as I have yours over the last few months. Sorry the lighting isn't better. The koa and iolite are not done justice by my photos.

The quality of this knife is some of the best I've seen. The assistance and high level of service I received from the staff at CRK was second to none (thx Bridget, Lisa, Merlin and Chris - you guys rock). I'm a very happy camper. :D :D

My second Sebbie should arrive tomorrow. A plain, small regular of recent birth that's been well cared for. It will probably see harder duty than the above, but I'll bet it takes it in stride.

Let me be the first to congratulate you. The knife is awesome! I've been thinking of something similar for a while, and now you just added lots of fuel to the fire :D

"Sorry the lighting is not better"

You must be joking the photos are fantastic and it goes without saying that the knife is superb

Have CRK ever done a combination wood inlay and graphic design before? I have never seen or heard of one on the forum before.

Very beautiful, and very special for you and your daughter. I'm sure she'll cherish that knife.

Gee... that's one of the nicest I've seen. You know... It's funy because one of the decorations I had in mind for a sebenza of my own was an empty turtle shell. A completely different meaning, but still a coincidence.

Boy! I don't get out here enough! That is a beaut for sure!!!

I'll bet you were just a tingle when you unwrapped that knife. ;)

Most excellent !

Thank you guys, I appreciate the kind words. It was a long time coming, but well worth the thought and $$ that went into it. My daughter came up to me tonight and asked if she could see "da' turta' knife" (spelled the way she says it). It was a cool moment. :)

I just had to see this thread again. That is for sure the nicest decorated Sebbie I've seen thus far.

Very very nice! You should be proud. Great job by everyone at CRK.

I am inspired to be creative after seeing that knife.

TP,

congratulations! What a nice way for you to think about your kids and them about you, over the years.

Your thread is helping me to finalize a decision about the calvalry sebenza I have been thinking about buying.

Congrats on the beautiful knife. Your children will treasure those knives for many years to come.

That is so nice! The custom designs are one of the things that set the Chris Reeve knives apart from all others.

I wish Reeve would post pics of all their custom designs so people could enjoy them. Of course posting them on this forum would be even better.

Congrats! I really like knives with some story behind them... very nice Sebby...
