Here are my two first attempts at knife making... what do you all think? Both are Damascus blades with stabilized burl maple handles. Thanks! - Chad

If those are your first, you have got some talent! Welcome to Blade Forums.

The wood is very nice, and I agree with T. Hendrickson about the grinds, very nice!

I wish I could take credit for the blades but to start I ordered blanks from a really nice knifemaker in Idaho. I should have said that in my original post. I did however do the handles start to finish with no instruction, woodworking experience or help. I'm pretty proud of myself :D and am looking forward to doing more. I will definately try making my own blades one of these days soon. My family has been in the Bronze Sculpture business for many years so I have all the good woodworking and metal tools at my disposal. Again thanks for the positive comments and I am looking forward to enjoying this site in the future! - Chad

I just died a little on the inside after looking at my first *knife* compared to your beauties.

Those are very nice looking handles. I am sure you will be able to make awesome blades when you do try it.

Wow! Those look great man. Needless to say, you look like you are on the right track. Blade grinds are beautiful, but the wood on the handles is just nuts. Keep it up!

Chad very nice job by the way . I collect bronze works i have a end of the trail james frazier and a carl kauba .The end of the trail is really nice I also have some nancy mclaughlin stuff i really like her stuff.

I'd like to know too, that wood is gorgeous.

The outfit I got my scales from is a company called Two Finger Knife out of Idaho. Do a google search on them and you should come up with eBay listings where they are selling handle scales. They also sell some nice Damascus blanks as well. Hope that helps! Thanks again to all who responded with your complimentary comments!
