My First Axis Lock v. spend more money (943 vs 710)

ok, thanks for the help guys. I looked at a firiend's grip (a new one) and the edge seems to be decent, was not too sharp, but it did not seem thick or uneven. Thus, I figure I should be able to get by for a long time without the reprofile, make it a project or something if I need it. If i am satisfied with its performance with the factory edge, then yay for me.

My money does not know what to do with itself though. I really like spyderco knives, except the axis is so cool.

As to your question about the 940 v. 710 - I have never handled a 710 but can wholeheartedly vouch for the 940. Of the 20 or so folding knives that I have it's the one that I appreciate the most. If I were ever to lose this knife, I would immediately seek to replace it. I hope that never happens though 'cause mine is a 940 D2CF and those don't seem to come up on that auction site very often.

I was going to suggest the Sharmaker diamond rods if you have a Sharpmaker, but Cliffs idea is much less costly. The diamond rods are effective in reprofiling, though a bit slower than and Edge Pro or similar. I used a flat chainsaw file once to steepen the angle on a Buck 532 and then worked the edge.
