I finished this knife last night! The sense of pride and accomplishment was wonderful. I haven't gotten a paid membership yet (lack of money :( ) but hope to after I sell this knife. I plan on setting the price at around $250, based on everything I've read about knife pricing, as well as current Balisong market trends. I know a few of you can advise me on how to price my knives - I used the old "sell it for enough to make 2-3 more" as a guideline.

If I could get some solid critique and advice it would really help me out. I am currently (and have been for some time) out of work. I am an industrial design student when I have the money. I've always enjoyed the idea of making money selling custom knives. This knife will be my first venture into making a business of it.

If any of you would like to take the time to give a "noob" some sage advice, this link is where you can find a much more detailed write-up on the "build":

Thank you all in advance! As soon as I can afford to I will upgrade my membership so I am not muddying a pond I don't belong in. :D

Sorry no. Not an add lol...

I'm hoping for advice on how I should price it, and some critique on the design and execution.

It is my first knife other than the couple fixed and folders I use because they weren't worthy of being sold. I am just new to the forum and the whole scene in general. I'll read back through it and see if I can make it less "add-like".

Actually now that I read through it maybe you can explain to me why you think it is an add. I have moderated several custom car site's in my time (my first love is Nissan) and I wouldn't interperet this as any thing other than what it is. A noob seeking advice. Also if it WERE an add it would be in a classified section.

But at least I know that my photos are add-worthy ;) so thank you for that. I'm not even sure if I want to sell this particular knife. The handle material has significant sentimental value. Any other thoughts?

To me, what makes it look like an add is that you have a price that includes shipping and insurance.

Other than that....
The finish looks good....and the wood is nice. You should try and make one from scratch.

Thank you - I will fix that.

I have some Ti and SS on the way, but I'm going to do a few more kit mods first before I break out the serious design. A lot of what I have done has been wood (clocks and furniture) or car parts (don't have to be so pretty) so I'm trying to get used to finishing metal cleanly.

This is what sounds like an ad to me,plus the fack you had a build thread but started a new one to show it off.

Looking good, try a few more kits to learn the geomitry and practice your fit and finish (which looks good BTW) and try some from scratch. Welcome to the addiction.
