After lurking here on the Becker Forums for some time now, I finally decided after reading all your posts and gathering a good bit of info to drop some change and add a Becker to my collection. The BK2 seemed a good place to start. I ordered the BK2, and after reading about some folks having problems with the sheath actually dulling the blade I went with a custom Kydex sheath. I think I made a good choice there. The stock sheath came as well, and I prefer the custom over the standard sheath. The stock sheath is still good, just not my personal preference. The knife came sharp, but I think after reading all your posts I expected a little more. It was an easy enough fix. I broke out the Lansky sharpener and profiled the edge at 20 degrees. She cut before with relative ease, but now I might actually be scared of her edge :o
Overall I am very happy with my purchase it's a great knife for just over 60$. I will definitely be adding more to my collection. I think I may strip it next. Any recommendations? On a side note, this was my first time using the Lansky. It gets my vote for how user friendly it is.

Welcome to the Becker forums, glad you decided to post with us.

Great knife, and what an edge!!! How are is that CRKS kydex? I been eyeballing them for a while now, and the OD is my choice (favorite color). Never seen one until now.

Great knife, brother, stick around, you'll like it here.

Tanka- haha, that's Grey Goose and Sprite Zero, I know know, but I'm cutting weight for a powerlifting meet in June. Otherwise it would be beer, beer, beer.

Moose-Thanks for the welcome. I'm really digging this knife. I absolutely love the sheath. Rides at the perfect height and very close to the body. Mine has a large molded Kydex belt loop to wear on a variety of belts, its removable to accommodate a Tek Lok as well. Good snap and retention to it, but an easy draw. More importantly I don't feel like it's dulling the knife every time I take it in and out of the sheath. Currently looking for a pouch to mount on it, to put some survival items in. I'm not a fan of the inner tube bands.

Look at the Maxped Anemonie. I have been looking at that one for a while. You might have to get creative to get a good, reliable attachment, but I am sure the theory is sound.

Keep us updated on what you figure out, we'd love to know.

Congrats on the new BK2. Welcome to the forums. New here myself.

Moose,
I ordered one and was disappointed. It was ridiculously tight, so out came the heat gun. I also cut it down so there were no sharp edges and trimmed it closer to the rivets. I also mounted a TekLoc.

I'll have to take a photo and let you see the finished product.

Tom

I agree with Tom, in that there is a lot of excess Kydex near the rivets, but the edges on my are all fairly smooth. Tom what did you use to trim up the edges? I would like it to be a little more narrow.

The best advice I can give is to skip the micarta and keep the grivory scales. They just work, and work well. Best accessory for my BK2 was a Moose-made leather sheath - carries very well on my belt, easier in/out, no dulling of blade. Now go beat the crap out of it. :D

I like my sheath as well, but I got the black micarta on mine. My BK2 fits great in the custom Kydex, but I also use my Armorall Leather Sheath, from my ESEE5.
Odd, but the BK2 fits better, no rattle. The ESEE5 rattles just a bit, not much, but I can make it rattle.
Anyway, nice choice of knife and sheath. Lovely shine on that edge!

The micarta handles are not needed but are excellent, I do recommend them...

I personally think the BK2 sheath is some of the best kydex I have seen, exceptional but the belt loop needs a upgrade....

A little off topic here, but do they make different shades of OD paracord? Mine seems darker than the cord in the photo above. I took some photos of mine with the flash on, see if it was brightened up any. Well, of course some, but still seems dark. I see other photos of paracord that seems lighter than mine. Sorry for the off topic.

Edit: Looked one place. Seems the difference is that OD is dark, where foliage is lighter.

Good looking edge. A Lansky system is next on my list of purchases that should mark my complete and irreversible plunge into knife obsession.

I don't even have a place to have as a "workshop," the pitfalls of living truly urban. I envy you all and pine for the days I was a kid in my father's basement, he has 1 helluva setup.

Power lifting, that brings back memories for me. I was really into it in the 70's, but now the old joints and back can't take it anymore. I lifted in the 181 and 198 pound class.

Now I dead lift beer and have to stop that!

Oh, and that's a great knife and great edge you put on it!

My garage is so full of crap that I can hardly get into it. While not in NYC, I'm in the suburbs outside of Los Angeles. All of my work is done on a porch or on the kitchen table when the wife is away/not looking.
