My first Becker-BK2

Do u have the diamond or regular lansky system? I must be doin something wrong w/ mine cuz i cant ever get an edge like that w/ my lansky. Care to share your secrets? BK2 is a great knife. I could never get mine as sharp as i wanted so ive moved 2 of them...currently looking for a third to stay in the stable. Nice rig bro!

Power lifting, that brings back memories for me. I was really into it in the 70's, but now the old joints and back can't take it anymore. I lifted in the 181 and 198 pound class.

Now I dead lift beer and have to stop that!

Oh, and that's a great knife and great edge you put on it!

I know what you mean about the joints hurting, thankfully, they have a ton of supplements probably not available in the 70's to help with joint pain, they keep me going. I compete at 198 too. Its a great time. its almost as fun as sharpening a knife for a couple hours:o

I have the Diamond Hone System, with the optional Pedestal Mount and the Super Sapphire Polishing Hone. I found the Pedestal mount to be essential to me, in maintaing the angle, and focusing on keeping the guide rod at the base of the guide hole. I use very little oil, after all the point is to take a little steel off at a time, not to lube the hone so much so that it just glides over the edge. I spent a lot of time with the Coarse Hone, profiling the edge, before moving to the medium Hone. I basically continued using the Medium, until i removed all the scratches left from the coarse hone, and then repeated the process with the fine hone, removing the scratches left by the medium. And then again with the Sapphire Hone. Take your time, and turn the blade often.

Learning to sharpen is like a feeling of a new found freedom. Its like damn I can go use the heck out of these knives and I will be able to repair and maintain them on my own, and go use the heck out of them again.

Anyone know what I mean?:D

Thanks buddy. I can free hand a hair poppin edge on most stuff but the bk2.. and i bought the lansky (regular not diamond..but do have lansky diafold ripoff as well now) thinkin it would help. I guess ill give it another try soon. Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the sharpening tips... yeah I know exactly what you mean, sharpening is a great feeling. I'm getting better and better with my Gatco system and it makes me so happy how the edges get sharper and sharper...

OP: That sheath is hot. I can only hope my kydex sheath for the BK14 will look half as good as yours. Thanks for the pictures.
