My First Becker: BK24

My BK24, handle and sheath:

I really like that micarta. I made a file knife about a month ago that I put micarta scales on and the grip you can get is awesome. I'm contemplating getting some for mine too :)

I love the 14/24 series. I just gave my brother in law a brand new 24 that I picked up in blak Friday. He loves it. I carry my 14 frequently, but am itching to get another 24!!

Great work on the leather sheath. I always wanted to try my hand at leather work.

Thanks guys!
I've got a pocket sheath going together for this guy as we speak. I've done all the stamping before it was glued together so this one should look pretty sweet. Now I'll be able to carry it around without my wife giving me a hard time about belt carrying it. :)

Done-zo! She's truly ready for EDC now. On the belt for work, in the back pocket for everywhere else.

Looks good! I use pocket sheaths quite often and I like to have something worth while to put into the secondary compartment. The first one I made holds a Leatherman. The second one I made holds a pen. Next one will hold a small flashlight, need to pick one a worthy one though

There is nothing like hand making your own custom leather sheath. It's cheaper than having someone else do it too :)

I've modded the blade slightly and I'm happy with the direction it's going. The only thing that I wasn't 100% sold on was the hump on the spine transition to the point. So I smoothed over the hump into a more subtle drop point. I may work it down a little more but I don't want to take too much off.

And, a little paracord for easy sheath extraction.

I love this knife. Thank you, Mr. Becker for being awesome!

I was thinking about doing some jimping too but I'll probably hold off on that for now. I don't know if I really need it for what I do. I did however, begin another possible mod for this one. My uncle made a small longbow out of ipe and it broke during the process. So he gave it to me knowing I like to make knife handles. I started cutting out some scales for this knife. I don't know if I'll actually use them or not but I think they'll look pretty sweet.

hmmm ... what's that in the back?

I see a Spyderco PM2, a Tweener, and a curvey hatchet.

'Eye. That would be a PM2, a BK-16 (cause you can't not have a 16) and the curvy hatchet is a Gransfors Bruks Wildlife Hatchet. Quite a party! Not shown was a BK-9 (long love the king) and a GEC Radio Jack.

So the madness has begun. I've got the ipe scales and pins epoxied and clamped. Now we just wait for it to cure.

Your sheaths look great.
I was thinking some of that walnut would go well, but the Ipe should be awesome too.
I like the mycarta on mine, but your leatherwork is so stellar I think it calls for wood. And pinned, even!
Very nicely done.

Good luck on the D2 patina! (You've probably already seen the thread on that...)

Well, here is what it looks like. I'm happy with the outcome so far, I'm just debating on the final finish. I still need to do a little more fine sanding but I'd say it's 95% done.

Thanks for the kind words. I love working with leather too. I made a keychain fob last night with my initials, a belt holster for my Iphone, a credit card holder, and TONS of lefty sheaths. It's not a bad addiction to have. :)

Hi guys,

This is my first post on this forum :)

Just got my new BK24, a very good looking little knife without any doubt! I'm very happy with this purchase and with my first paracord wrap.

I noticed however that the BK&T and ESEE logos appear on the opposite side of the blade when compared with all the hundreds of pictures I see on this site and on the Internet for the same knife!
I wonder if KaBar is now stamping the BK24 this different way or if it is just a random process.
What do you think?

See below a few pictures of my knife.

Guys my next knife is a BK24, any suggestions on sites for scales and sheaths to add on would be greatly appreciated. I have found the AZ Welke site! Also, I assume all Izula scales fit this blade!

WELCOME!

And congrats on getting a BK24. It was my first too!

OH NOOOES!!! You got a FAKE!

Send to me immediately for proper disposal. Include the paracord too since it's been ... uh ... contaminated.

Definitely get the factory black and orange zytel set.

TKC (theknifeconnection.net) has nice G10 scales.

Tommythewho makes nice wood scales.

There is a $5 Case leather sheath that fits the 11/14/24.

Also, I assume all Izula scales fit this blade!
All? I wouldn't make that assumption. The factory Izula micarta scales fit but ain't no telling what a 3rd party source might do.

I understand that Izula II scales can be made to fit.

Pauloh, forget buying one, make one. Use the interwebs. If I can can cut up an old pair of slacks and mix some epoxy anyone can.

Sorry to bother but where did you get your sheath your bk24? Been looking something that, I like how small the profile is.
