<<Dear Maniacal Pete,

You have received a warning at BladeForums.com.

Reason:
-------
Failure to follow Forum Specific Rules

This is a Warning, please read and follow the updated exchange rules.
Please read and follow the updated rules.

Rules for the Exchange forums - COMPLETELY REVISED, 10/30/2010
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/an...php?f=746&a=98

SECTION 4 - Rules for buyers
First, see section 2.2 above.

4.1. Do not post "mail sent" or other similar replies to ads.>>

All I've seen is "PM sent," "Email Sent," etc. since I first started reading the ads. I'm a human being, you know, and I've been around all of what, two weeks? They could have just told me in a PM, and not treat me like I am a child and issue a formal warning on my personal record that will follow me the rest of my life. And further, what's the big deal about a stupid "email sent" post. Pretty heavy handed approach if you ask me. I guess this place is not as friendly as I thought, and I PAID to support specifically the Busse forum (hence this folder, mods) and be allowed to post here. Stupid!

Rules is rules but I know what you mean. I got a few demerits recently for stating that a knife from a certain country looked like it was made in that particular country insulting people from that certain country because they make knives that look like the came from their country.

Bill, I think you came onto the forums just as a major rules change came into effect. Most of the past practices are no longer acceptable. Don't worry too much about the warning, it should have an expiration date which you can check by clicking on the yellow tab on your post where the warning was issued. Just be careful when dealing on the exchange. :)

Don't feel too bad either. There are some real old timers that have been issued warnings already as well in regards to the exchange rules changes. ;)

Relax, it's just a warning that will fall off your record in ten days. No points. I tried to alert people to the revised rules that went into effect on 10/30/10, but I guess you missed the thread. Read the revised rules, learn 'em, and live 'em...and you'll have no more problems. :)

...Guess I should bump the PSA thread again, huh?...

a warning that is going to follow you around the rest of your life? really?

no one would have known if you hadn't posted it here. (except mods)

warnings are just that, warnings. no points. nothing.

get over it.

Don't stress it, it's only a warning, I've gotten much worse. Just think, you probably wouldn't even have noticed you broke a rule unless you got a warning. The you went and read the rules, so now you a aware. You are doing fine... so don't stress it.

I have done the same thing, but I quit that a long time ago.

I don't want any other hog to even know I am interested, or they might swoop me!

I do all my questions on the sly for just that reason.

Trust me, nothing will goad a fence sitter or price drop waiter, than lots of "PM's sent" bumping the tread up.

I also read the new rules.

Don't sweat it. Getting infracted with no points is no biggie.

I was also going to post that no one would have really known if you had not posted on here.

Just laugh about it, and move on.

.

I don't care, that is pretty F'up rules if you can't post in a ad "email sent" to let the guy know you sent him something. Are they really so worried about using up space or what?

The "Permanent record" quote is a comedical movie quote, sometimes my dry, sarcastic sense of humor doesn't come across.

"get over it?" - Thanks for the kind words, Pal!

Thanks Jaxx, you have a kind way with words, I mean that.

I got pissed when I read this:

I (apparently incorrectly), thought I was being penalized. I am a bit of a stickler for rules and protocol myself, that is why I was so offended to find myself at odds (however unintentionally) with the powers that be...

I like being here.

Heck, we have had some real fine members flame out and get banned.

Mostly when alcohol gets mixed with late night posting.

That's too bad. It really is. I've had no alcohol yet tonight, and I've tried to temper my response. I wasn't aware of the distinction between warning and infraction. But hey, what's wrong with a mod just saying, "Hey, you really shouldn't do that, it's against the rules?" It would be a lot less impersonal, better than someone I never met saying "You have a Warning!" Sheesh! I've been a member of various forums and their owners and mods all have their various "buttons" and such that if you happen to push cause them to feel the imperative to assert their authority. Further, I've no real problem with being banned if it had to come to that, either. It would just mean to me that I didn't belong here. I'm not an unreasonable person, there is no reason for me to be banned. Sorry for the rant everyone, I'm done...

The day I lose sleep over an internet forum moderator infracting me is the day I sign off the internet for a while and reevaluate my life. Nothing against our moderating team, but i've been on a lot of forums, mainly bodybuilding ones, but gun ones as well, and sometimes mods really do think they're doing the lords work. In the end, its the internet, and none of this really matters. We're all just here for some fun and talking about a common subject, I try to follow the rules as best I can, but if I get a little red blurp and a PM from a mod, my day will be absolutely the same.

Tim, if you have a problem with the revised rules for the X, and it's pretty obvious that you do... Why don't you take it up with Spark on the Feedback thread that he posted in the Service & Support forum? He has specifically requested that all discussion over these revised policies be confined to that thread only. Posting your complaints about it on this forum is akin to wasting your breath...and this is the second time I've told you that.

These rules have come into effect based on feedback and discussion with the moderation staff & various users. Please confine your discussion of these rules to THIS THREAD ONLY.

New Rules for the Exchange forum - FEEDBACK THREAD

Can't make everyone happy. Call me stupid for trying, guess what ...

We have updates to the rules, mods try to get the word out. Announcements, stickies, information posts like Jaxx did here. Spark even had a comments thread opened to discuss the rules, and he changed some because of that input. People still get all upset their posts get a yellow card.

You want PMs first now? I find a post in violation, or someone reports it to me, I go to my file and copy the rules into that warning you get, I put comments above it now, too, to make sure you can see what I'm telling you. If I send a PM, the next mod who finds you in violation has no way of knowing you ignored the first time you were told.

Since when did I run around here trying to make people unhappy?

* ****** **** ****** *

Why, why, why, why, why !?!?!?

The new rules with their action on short posts like "mail sent", "knife sold", "nice handle", are meant to keep down the chatter that doesn't sell knives. It slows down the process. And every time you bump one thread, you're knocking everyone else's threads back down.

One more why, that I'm letting you get away with:

Threads don't necessarily belong where you like to post. We have specialized forums so everyone interested in the topic can find it. By putting this tech support post in Busse, you deprived everyone else of the information.

so, from your entire whining post i (we) should have know that those two words were sarcastic?

im not your pal.

I can't imagine the shock and horror of getting a warning from a mod on an internet forum. I can quite well understand how one's entire life could be ruined by such a catastrophe.

.

I can see what you mean, you pay money to support a site, then you don't get a break for a simple accident.

All in all its not that big of a deal, but I guess I can say that as a non-paying member pretty easily. I guess the mods have scene so many A-holes that it all starts to blend.

I think here I got an infraction for saying the F word after 10 other people said it but spelled it with a 'ph' or an 'a'

Once (on another forum) I got an infraction for not apologizing for an infraction, and once for not clearing my PM's...

It happens.
