My first blade

It's out of an old saw blade, I wanted to practice before picking up better steel. I'm happy with it, I would spend another few hours rounding everything out, but this one was made with my Daughter so it's hers now and she doesn't care. It's a decent slicer, I want a better edge on it, but there is not much thickness to work with.

Next one will be 5160 with wood or micarta handles. I learned so much doing this one, I'm glad I started off slow. I learned from many mistakes, and I'll change the order next time. That said, I'm ok with it:

A big thank you for all the help folks with my questions, and advice you gave.

Nice job! Before you make another you would be well-served by putting some time in with a stone getting a smooth continuous edge bevel right on that one, so that you will have figured out how to get it where you want it on the next project.

Thanks everyone. I was at work and they needed to break down 20 boxes. They had just seen my first blade here, and asked to use it.

Even though it's not heat treated, and from a saw blade, it sliced great and still has a useful edge. I'm psyched to get my hands on some 5160 now.
