My first blade

using 01 tool steel and basic tools to attempt my first blade. Chose a bushcraft pattern from online and picked up some burl for the scales. Any words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated thank you

IMHO the first thing that comes to mind is picking out your handle pin/rivet hardware now and drill for them BEFORE you heat treat.....

Have a jig for that scandi grind? If not look into making one. I've tried to do it freehand and it was a nightmare.

Just take your time. One mistake I almost made on my first knife was taking to much material away from the handles to quickly. You can always make it thinner, hard to put it back on. Do a little bit at a time and check the fit for your hand. I spent a little more time on mine, making some alterations from the template I had to start to get the fit right.

What type of pins were you going to use?
