My first Boker

Huh?

I'm a jerk for buying this knife for $2 and asking about it on the forum?

Biggame i offer you my apologies. What the hell was i thinking. I should not have taken my rant on concocted knives = 2 different time period materials made into 1 knive on you. You just asked request for dating and i tried to help you but after that i got irretated and confused about blade versus handle logo and should not have taken it out on you. I am not sure if the handlemarking is consistent with the bladestamp. IMO the bladestamp looks older then the one on the handle.

That weekend i was blowing off steam from some stressfull workdays. Poor caracter on me to take it down on you as you just perchased it at low price from the bay.

So sorry :o
Maarten!

Pardon me gentlemen for posting in your forum.I have been following this thread as well as the other thread in Mr Levines forum.

I do not agree with this statement.Boker used the "Tree over Solingen" shield well before 1974 .Unless you wish to say the below knife is also a reblade.

Todd A,

Thank you for posting but your handle mark/ logo looks different as the one shown on Biggame's one. It looks older to me.. Somehow the one on Biggame's looks early seventies and your one looks older. I wished we had a reverence guide with time frame for all boker tree logo's that is bladestamps and handle embedded logos .
Allthough pre 1944 might be more difficult to determent period wize as past 1944.

If Boker in Germany and Us have such a database with pics i definately would be interested to get a copy for catorizin the old stuff for them...

My logo findings are too limitided so far and mostly gets me within a 20 years area of approx built date.

Todd I was just pointing to the different uses of the tree band logo over time frame off 1869 to date. Due to WO2 for pre1944 boker's germany and company changes from J boker (In usa) 1968 to Wiss&Sons and later Coopertools there might be issues in the 1944-1987 area. Till 1986/1987 german take over and starting in Denver.

Maybe the company has more knowledge about the stamps used but for the forementioned parts it takes some more info ; some fact some from heard over by old employers/hear by say.

Maarten,

No problem brother, the information you have provided on this and other threads is very helpful to me. I am just trying to learn, just like everyone else here.

I look forward to your future posts.
