Hi everyone. I'm working on a bowie to give to a friend and would like some input from the community. He is a trapper/hunter/fisher so the blade is 3/16" thick at the spine ti stand up to heavy use. I plan on doing a half flat grind but have no idea how to cut the grinds on the back cut. I would love advice on how to do the grind and any design critiques. Heres a picture of what i currently have.

Thanks

I would either go full flat or flat/convex if its gonna be a chopper.
Hollow grind is a nice sharp grind, but I prefer a flat to subtle convex for my choppers...
Looks like a scimitar.

OK. I probably didn't use the correct term for the grind but what I was trying to say was a full flat that went only up about half way. That way, on the top cut on the spine I could just partailly grind it to taper the point more for stabbing. And thanks for noticing the scimitar design, I wanted to give him something unique.

Rounding the transition from the tang to the blade will reduce stress risers. Fred Rowe and Stacy had some tips on grinding the clip in another post. Look through the first two pages and I'm sure you will find it.
