What's your beef with the NightHawk sheath ??

You've got that right, Dan. ;) Once I switched over to the nickel silver bolsters....my mouth dropped!! :D Talk about a unique look, black handle with the silver bolsters and that great satin finish on the blade....I don't think that it could get any better. Thanks for the link.

Familiar story. Wally World. Thirty dollars. WOW! Nice fit and finish. And this thing opens with a CLACK! I don't see how anyone could close it accidentally. This thing really has a presence to it. This is my first Buck. I can see why they have such a loyal following.

I still have the Buck 110 I bought in 1971. Carried it just in case when I traveled. Might have whittled a little bit with it, cut some cheese and salami for cheese and crackers dinner on a low budget musical tour in the early 70's.

My friends and I all bought one that year. Everyone else got a big kick out of throwing their's into trees. I guess that's why Buck doesn't have that no quibble guarantee anymore.

Heck my Dad has used his to slice his prime rib at Claim Jumpers. Keeps the servers on their toes.

The 110 is a thoroughly unique American tradition.

I got my first Buck 110 in 1977 and used it quite alot every day as I was on a US Navy warship. Now I have 2 110MS's and a closeout Std. 110 that I got from wally world. No sheath, display model, for $14!I prefer the handle style and 440C steel of my first 110 to the new std. model 110.

I think you might need to do some more research.... Buck still has the 100% Customer Satisfaction, Lifetime (they don't care when you bought, or where you bought it) Warranty. They have fixed knives that should have been thrown away and made them right as new. IF they can't fix it, they WILL replace it. (even if it was stuck in a tree.... :D ).

If any of you NEW Buck Owners are intetrested, there is a Buck Collector's Club, sponsored by the factory. Lots of "perks" with your membership, and it is one of the best deals you can get, only $20 per year, or $100 Lifetime. Jump over to the Buck Forum and look for the thread BUCK COLLECTOR'S CLUB INC for more info and an application. If you want more info, feel free to drop me a email by clicking on my signature.... ;)

My Nighthawk is for field use, I carry it on my tactical vest. The original sheath is great - on a typical belt. Anything beyond that and it's hard to figure out how to hang it. I'm having a custom one made for it now, hopefully it'll get here before I leave. The problem is they didn't allow any other way to hang it - if you can't get it on a belt, you're just SOL :D The kydex Kabar sheaths are much more versatile as far as mounting, I wish Buck had taken a lesson. With their sheath, you can just run 550 cord through it and hang it however it's convenient, in any position. When you consider what the Nighthawk was designed to be used for, you would think that they would have designed a sheath that would offer greater flexibility to go with such a great knife. Just my .10

Thanks for the info on the Collector's Club, Dan. I'm definitely going to look into it, as well as, a custom 110 from Pete's. ;)

BTW, I recieved my new custom leather sheath from Lifter4Him a couple of days ago and I'm VERY happy with it!!! I highly recommend him to anyone looking for custom fit leather sheaths.

I just picked myself a 110 up from Walmart. Oh man, it was just like running into a long lost friend, it just belonged by my side. I actually was suprised in that it felt light! Guess I have been toting my AR for long enough that all other folders seem small!

I am so so on the fabric sheaths though. They are good in that the Brass wont look as bad so quickly, but the leather sheaths were very well made.

BTT, just gotta hear some more 110 stories. My wife gave me a finger groove for Christmas and I love it. Bob
