Well, it's only taken me 60 years to acquire my first Buck. I've been
collecting knives for quite a while, and have quite a few different
brands. The one I've never owned is Buck. I've been hanging around
this forum for a few days and decided to take the plunge. I decided to
go with the Original Classic 110.
You probably wouldn't believe how many places and how many miles
I drove today to find one. I thought for sure my local Wal*Mart would
have one, but nope, only some of the newer models. Tried a few other
places, and decided the heck with it and went to Bass Pro Shops. They
must have had nearly every single Buck model, except the 110. They
had them from about 15 dollars on up, but no 110??? I asked the guy and
it took 3 of them to finally find someone who knew what the 110 was. All
I got was a "nope, we don't carry that one"!!!??? I was dumbfounded.
To me that would be like going to McDonalds and ordering a hamburger only
to be told, "no, we've got fish sandwiches, Big mac's....etc. but no classic
hamburgers, LOLOLOLOL.
On the way home I saw a Dick's Sporting good, and while I'm really not
fond of them I decided to stop. I went to the "Lodge" and looked in the case
and saw a shiny new 110, for 39.99. I told the guy I'd take it. He searched out on the rack and then in the store room. "Sorry, but this is the last one"
I didn't care, I didn't need the clamshell that I figured it would be in. He told
me they would give me another 10% off because it was the last one and opened. Heck, I would have bought it without the discount. So less then 39.00 dollars later I'm the proud owner of a new 110.
Great knife by the way. Heavier then I was expecting, and darn near Razor
sharp.
Now I just need to find a nice looking sheath like some of you all have. I'm
sure the nylon sheath is fine, but it just doesn't have the nice look to it.
Well here she is, My First Buck.
Thanks again guys, I really like this forum.
Regards Sonny

Welcome to this side of the forum SonnyD. Glad you where able to get your first Buck, looks like a real nice one. Just beware of that dreaded Buck fever that is going around, once you get that you can not get rid of it.;):) HL

It sounds like you have a lot of determination. I probably would have given up after Wal Mart, and Bass pro's not having in stock. You will enjoy the 110 very much, and it probably won,t be your last. Enjoy and welcome to this forum, a bunch of great people on here that will go that extra mile to help someone.

Welcome to the Buck forum and your first Buck!! It wont be your last! ;)

Nice background in your pic too!!

Congratulations, you now own the best all around folding knife ever made! Please be advised,Buck knives have been known to be highly addictive!:D

Thanks Guys!!......I'm already enjoying it. I think it's spent about 10
minutes total time in the sheath since I got it. I keep taking it out and
looking at it, and then wiping it down:D:D. Sure wish I hadn't wasted all those
years of not owning one.
Thanks again.
Regards Sonny

Nice choice- FINALLY! 60 years Haha!
There is definately something about the heft of the 110... you just got to handle it to realize the full presence. Now you need the 112 so you can confuse yourself in deciding which you like better, and which you want to carry day to day:D

Sonny, Welcome ! I sure like a 110 and hope you enjoy yours as well . Use it and let us know what you think . DM

Welcome Sonny,

Glad u finally found one:confused: All the places you went to should have certainly had the 110-cant believe you had that kind of problem finding the most recognized piece of cutlery of all time. Leather cases are easy to find on the bay. I personally like em better than the nylon. Good luck and enjoy the next one:D Buck fever has been contracted:thumbup:

Welcome to the forum Sonny D.

What ever you do.....DON't do a search on ebay for Buck 110 :rolleyes::D

Thanks again guys! Yeah I too was amazed at the number of places
I had to go to find a 110.
I think all in all Bass Pro was the most confusing of all. They had one
full section on the floor of clamshell packs with nothing but Bucks,
then at least 1/3 of their display behind the counter was Buck, and
about 1/4 of their counter display in glass was buck....and not a single
110. I could understand if they were out of stock since this is a high
seller, but the fact that they didn't even sell it was what amazed me.
One sales person who really wasn't that interested offered up, "We cant
sell them all!!"........My only counter was, "but you don't sell the most
popular of all!!!"

Pack Rat.........I already made that mistake:D:D:D:D:D:D

Thanks again guys for the warm Welcome. Now, guess where I'm going?,
out shopping for another..LOLOLOL
Regards Sonny

Hi SonnyD

Congrats!
Wow 60 years for your first Buck!
Talk about being late to the party. :D
I know you are quite a collector, as I have purchased several
items from you. And I know you have good taste!
But your first Buck---I am amazed.
Anyway, enjoy your 110. It's a great knife.
Next you need a 301. May I suggest the 301 Stockman Chuck Buck Signature model with Cherrywood Dymondwood Handle. It's great too! :)

Hi SonnyD,

It's good that you have tested the rest and now you own the best "Buck 110"....LOL. I think I heard something like that before "Bucks the Best, Fxxx the Rest" is how it goes, right;). I'm sure you will enjoy your new 110.

FYI
You may want to go to walmart on-line and buy your next 110, you can have it sent to your local walmart for free and just pick it up there. The last time Buck did the tin can 110 it was the only way I could get them as my local walmart did not stock them!

SonnyD, welcome to the Buck forum, nice 110 you got there... There will be more... You will get more... ... Post lots of pics... We all like pics... New or old... ITE

Don't feel bad Sonny,I've tried them all too. After buying lots of high end knives over the years,I went full circle right back to where it all started. Buck knives are the best! Another really neat thing about a 110 Buck knife is the fact you have more sheath options than any other knife ever made.By the way Sonny, the grain in your 110 handle is OUTSTANDING!Another cool fact about a 110 Buck(every one is unique) Tom p.s.: Don't get that 110 blade to close to the fuel line on that cool Harley.

Welcome... give the nylon sheath a try for a while.

I have a couple that I have taken the Buck tag off of them for a more stealthy approach. You can carry it horizontal on your belt and in all black folks think it is a phone case of some sort.

My first Buck s knife was Ergo Hunter Pro S30 V.
It was not so long time ago.
To day I have got some more knives of Buck company.
I was going long time to Buck s knives.
Sometimes it is very difficult to find a desirable knife, and it comes to us difficult ways.

Sonny, great buy. Hard to go wrong with a 110. I'm in the KC area and if you are looking for a good place to buy knives try heading to either one of the outlaw cigar shops.
