My first Busse

I fondly remember opening the package on my first Busse. What a moment to cherish - as you order another; and another; and another; and another.....

Velkommen to der Madness...:-)

Just attempted to baton with this blade, it split the log 2/3 of the way down on the first swing, so I tossed the baton.

I’m trying to talk myself out of buying another; how’s the black coating look up close in hand? I’m thinking, van gogh’s “starry night”?

The black is more a matte finish--not as shiny as the moss green.

Sleek

I found an unsanctioned sheath seller advertising 7-8oz. sheaths (several I ordered previously measured 3.4 mm, which is closer to 8-9oz.) for about 1/5 the price. Not as beautiful of course as the artists advertising here, but frees up funds for more infi!

The INFI is the same, with the same heat treatment--more ergnomic and less expensive. Hard to believe, right?

And just as deadly,(?) well maybe not as much as the gladius, ak47, or HNWS, assuming 15 rounds (frickin nj) doesn’t put down the beast

I was thinking of large packs of hungry “coyotes,” which some states refuse to refer to by their actual name, “wolves” but yeah, me neither!

The Rucki and AK' are really good stickers and slicers / choppers. :D I must say I prefer the Rucki for speed and balance. The little extra length on the ak47 just doesn't pay for itself in the long run. Imho.

And the main difference between sr101 and infi is rust ability (aside from higher carbon content etc? I like the full tang on the rucki, but it’s not really an advantage for a chopper; stabbing a charging boar, wolf, bear definitely the rucki or ak

The full tang on the rucki gives much better balance for speed and lightness of hand. Much more so than the ak47. Again this is just my humble opinion.
The AK47 feels the need to use a two handed grip and feels off using one hand. While the Rucki feels right at home with a one hand grip, fast and maneuverable.

Congrats on a great first purchase!

After the long thread asking for the B13 and it’s subsequent arrival (Thanks Boss), I feel like it fell on the community kind of flat based on how many went up for sale and lack of threads based around it.

However, I love this blade! :) I ordered a Battle Grade initially based on color and thickness, then immediately jumped on the waiting list when I heard about the additional grinding they were putting the CG through.

The BGBB13 has been one of my most frequent users since I got it. I have about 5 acres and I have put it through some paces. Everything from tree trimming to tree felling,(and of course it’s most useful function in opening up packages with more bacon inside) it’s a beast!

At the end of the summer I was taking down an old swingset and didn’t feel like dragging out the sawz-all. The BGBB13 tore through it and I pretty much only had one spot with some edge deformation that was easily put back in place with mostly a butcher steel.

I can’t sing the praises of the BB13 or SR-101 enough.

Have mercy on your wallet now that you have seen the performanceo_O

I see, when fighting off multiple enraged “animals” there’s no point using 2 hands for one blade, when the other hand can wield a hawk. My hawks aren’t busse kin,(obviously) but similarly shaped slabs of double edged 1055 or 5150 steel. Something like the .37” thick Moabolo would tire my arm out after a few dozen strikes hit or miss, making it likely one of the the last parts of me to be consumed. Fortunately such large packs mostly live in protected areas, meaning I imagine no useful rifle could be brought along, meaning I wouldn’t voluntarily be there.
