My First cable damascus

I have not posted any knives for a while so I thought I would throw this one out there, Here is my firsat attempt at cable damascus.
Just over 12" long w/ a 6" blade. Stag crown,wrought iron guard,and a box elder spacer. All comments are welcome.

That is outstanding , excellent. Stan how do you grind lines that good . I need a lesson to keep my lines crisp straight and deep . .kellyw
 
Thanks for all the kind words, it was a bunch of work.

Very nice ! What dia did you start with ?

Mete started with 2" plow steel cable about 6" of it.worked it into a billet about 1-1/2" x 24" X 1/4" thick,by hand.

And about my grind lines I have been making knives about 6 years but all out of SS.So just a lot of practice and steel dust.

That cable have larger diameter wires in it? You got a nice "snakeskin" pattern there. I really like that look better than the smaller wire patterns.
 
Yes it did.The calble was 7-8 stands about 1/2" dia. and each of these had 8-9 smaller wires wraped around a cental core.
