Well, I sent an e-mail to Case. They e-mailed back saying it was a model #96183 made exclusively for Owens Cutlery, which appears to be a knife shop in eastern Kentucky.

A little more digging got me this link which says that they only made 100.

My very first pocket knife was a Case. I used to have a bunch of "classic" knives, given to me by family and the neighbors. I regret giving them away or just throwing them out when I was young and stupid. I do still carry a Case Medium Stockman, but it isn't an aged knife (my old ones were from various brands, but still 30-40yrs old). Wew ill see if I can pass this one off to a neighborhood kid when I get to my 80's. (thanks to Mr. George who gave me my first pocket knife in 84').
