My first cerakote stripper

Found the picture before I sanded the rust away.

This is how it looks like after I took the scale off.

Seems like the cerakote coating was not applied under the scale.

Wow ! That's crazy and making me nervous as I've got some ceracoated knives. Did that blade see use ? Or was it a safe queen?
My BG BJ is edc the others are in storage.

Used it lightly and washed with clean water.
Could be just the high humidity over the equatorial

Same here, but on the other hand, I can't imagine that the cerakote is causing a greater degree of rusting under the handle???

Still, kind of bummed as I was thinking that the greatest benefit of that coating was the added rust resistance.

Dont think the cerakote is causing rusting. It seems to protect it better.
I believe it was not coated at all under the scale thus the rusting.

That is either a prep issue and was there prior to the blade being coated / it withheld moisture during the coating (not likely since Cerakote is baked) or it simply wasn't coated under the grip panels, which would be my likely guess. What do other broken down blades look like - is there coating under the handles?

I'm working on a BG batac that was cerakote and I'm positive the whole knife was sprayed in an assembled state, scales and all. I haven't removed mine yet.
