My first Challenge

Its a beauty...some wobble with the main blade, not sure how to address that. The pating on the thing is so nice! Wobble showed up after I ran it through the ultrasonic.

Very cool. It's interesting how the stag swells out a little on the bare head end. Looks like it would fit the paw nicely.

Also whats odd is that the stag is so thin. I have a couple of stag examples and frequently handle stag handled slipjoints and the stag is always fat, a little too fat for my liking. This seems to be an anomaly to me.
 
Dave, as far as I've seen, the older knives tend to have much thinner stag slabs than most contemporary pieces. Seems like they took the extra effort to thin them down properly, in the old days, even though it took more time and also created a risk of cracking the material during assembly and ruining a piece.
 
Beauty Dave,it's not an anomaly they used to fit the stag to the bolsters.Today's manufacturers don't have the supply or the patience.
