:) "Chute" is short for parachute. Bob Loveless had a customer who was a parachutist, and together they came up with the Chute knife pattern.
Maybe someone who knows more will chip in with some more detail.

I'd be willing to bet that you are going to make more knives in this style. You did real good on this one. Chute knives are one of my favorite designs, and this is one that I like a great deal.

You wouldn't lose money on that bet. I'll definitely be making more of these. :) With some changes. Like higher layer count, different pattern, and darker wood. I was also thinking it might look better with some spacers. What do you think?

I could see a nice dark black buffalo bone spacer. It would acsent the damacus coloring.

Other thoughts, buffalo spacer and ironwood. Or maybe try the africian blackwood, it's inexpensive to buy, a very dense wood and has a very nice look to it.

I'll be keeping an eye on you Phillip if your making more!

I think a couple of thin spacers would look great. Either the classic red and black, or a black spacer near the guard and then a thin steel spacer next to the wood.

Any thoughts about some upper end handle materials?

I usually use 2 black spacers and two steel ones, but I could give one each a try.
I'm thinking maybe Ironwood, like Spearz suggested, for the next one.
BTW, thanks for putting one of my knives as your avatar.:)
