My first custom knife (JK Lobo) & my first knife review (and a hike) *pic intensive*

Very nice design and great review. That looks like a great general purpose nice. Great work bringing the design to life.

Thanks for all the nice comments. Wildewind outdid himself on this design, it was a pleasure making it for him. We have some great designers on this forum, C Bryant, and pitdog come to mind, as well as Stanley White.

This is a great review of a beautiful blade.
So nice you get such a great knife!
Thanks for sharing.

Great review and awesome pictures. You will have to go out and hike with the rest of us So Cal locals sometime. Fantastic design, looks great and I'd bet functional as hell.

Sounds cool, C Bryant. I definitely need some hiking buddies. Just did another hike today, to the Bridge to Nowhere. That's a cool hike.

Whew.

That second photo on your original post REALLY makes the knife shine. What a nice design and an EXCELLENT execution.

Looks like you have a winner - those paper curls are TINY and the chopping force is amazing.

Did the edge roll over on you at all or give any marrs that needed to be buffed out?

Wow - I think this is my fav from Stomper so far - and I am NOT a big knife fan!

I guess I should I mentioned that part. I was out there batoning and chopping and a bunch of stuff and there was no damage at all. As I mentioned, I also went out on another hike yesterday and used it for more chopping, some detail knife work, and just generally messing around with it to impress my neice and nephew, and it's still just as sharp as ever. I've never had something made of 01 steel, but it seems like that stuff really holds an edge.

C Bryant, I'll post some pics of the hike. Gotta get them from my sister since we took her camera.

That is definitely the best knife I've seen from Stomper yet. You look at the drawing and then scroll down the page and see the actual knife, and the execution could not be more faithful to the original design. The fit and finish also looks to be impeccable.

My favorite part about knifemaking is working to a customer`s drawing, and making it become a reality.

Just curious as to how this blade has done over the last few years. Looks like a winning design.

Mods, please move this to the gear section.
