My first custom scales! Kershaw Thermite.

Just one more money sucking hobby.... : ) They always seem like a good idea at the time! Lots of fun though!

I don't even have the slightest idea where to begin to get one. Or build one. I know I don't want to spend 7 grand on one.

Mine was roughly $2600 after import/shipping. Plan on spending $100 - $500 on tooling and tools depending on what you have. Also a computer if you don't have a spare.

There are free cam/cad programs but usually the paid for ones are better so another 500-1k on software....

Why did you make me figure that out! Hope the wife doesn't see this. :D

Now that is very nice and since I just got a Thermite they would add some great color to the knife.

I would spend that much. That's right at the limit I was setting for myself. Lol

Got a few more colors in the mail today.

Bad news. Broke a 1mm end mill already

Also received my chamfer bit. Had to trick my CAM program into the right path but it turned out ok.

Can anyone tell me how to remove the "glue" in the g-10? I see after machining it leaves a little bit that makes it discolored? I cant really polish in the holes much. I tried acetone. didn't seem to do much.

Any more questions about the process let me know!

The orange with the lines is sweet. Love it. I haven'y seen any other's, though I don't look around that much to really know, but if it isn't, that pattern needs to be done more often. Don't like the other so much in orange, but with the blue it really works.
