My first EDC. Benchmade Presidio 520 or Griptilian 551 ???

The 520 to me has shelf space all its own-- people gripe about shredding, hate the chalkiness etc, but to me it's about the perfect hard-use knife, avail in both 154CM and M4 (sec'y mkt for M4). It's a comfy fit for leverage and the grip is superb, gloves or bare.

I don't get too bent out of shape regards steel choices. To me M4 can't be beat but I'm perfectly happy w/ 154CM too-- they're equally useful when sharpened, M4 just holds the edge longer is all. While I've always preferred tool steels I've come to appreciate the maintenance-free aspect of stainlesses as well. Were I to be using a knife all day I of course would want the edgeholding of M4, but for occasional (NORMAL in other words) use, any steel serves.

Grips are great, but for sustained use just aren't as comfy, for me anyway.

I appreciate your help !

The BM Presidio 525 is about only 25-30 cheaper that 520. But i dont know if that difference in price worths not to own the full version of Presidio. What do you think?

When you think that the 525 only has a 1/2" shorter blade and 5/8" shorter handle the difference in material used isn't very much hence only a $25 difference in price. It drives me a little crazy when other knife companys charge up to $100 or more for an extra inch of metal! If you live in a place that limits the length of a blade you can carry legally (if you care about that sort of thing) than the Mini might be for you. But if not than just go with the bigger one. I have both and I find the full size one to be more comfortable in the hand.

Thanks, i'll keep that in mind

I don't care for the full size Grip. I do however really like the Mini, and have owned a few.
As far as the Presidio, I have only owned an Ultra Mini. I really like them. They are very comfortable, and I like the blade shape.
The scales on the Ultra are similar material to the Grips, but imho they have a completely different feel.

I have both in M4. I prefer the 520 because it just feels like a much more solid and quality knife. It has a full liner and the aluminum scales feel much better than the plastic on the griptillian.
