Well i just purchased my first knife ever. I wanted a multi purpose blade to carry everyday. Thank you all for giving me opinions on EDC knives under $100. I admit i went over the budget. Paid $118 out the door with tax and everything. Felt the mini grip in my hand but seemed to small kind of something youd carry on a keychain instead of your belt. I purchased the full griptilian in with a tan handle/154cm/half serrated/black coating thing. It already came in handy as soon as i got home. I just used it to open a package of weenies today without having to go back inside the house to get a knife. I look forward to giving it more use and getting some custom scales in the future. Ive already seen the thread about Igors scales. But maybe ill let mine get beat up a little first.

That looks like a 711 lemon cookie.

Nice first knife! Grips are a great choice.

I Would get the custom scales cannot stand the "Plastic" or what ever they are scales. Other than that there pretty good Had the 551

I am actually already thinking about getting metal scales. All the aftermarket composite scales just change the texture/material of the grip and are overpriced IMO. But the aluminum ones also change the shape of it. They have a squared off back end as opposed to the oblong original shape.

Any aftermarket scale's will likely be close to the price of the knife.

Welcome aboard! Good to have you here, and that's a good knife to begin a collection with, for certain. Good job!

Congrats on the Griptilian, I've heard it's a great blade.

Just curious, is there any reason you got the half-serrated version? I'd probably have gotten a fine-edge as my first knife.

Welcome to BF dumbass, and let us know how it holds up for you a little latter on. Ya did good on your very first knife.

Congrats! The Grip is an excellent choice.

But Blues Bender is right - custom scales for the Grip will cost at least $80 and can easily exceed the price of the knife. Personally, I'd rather buy another knife. ;)

I thought the serrated edge wouldve came in handyer for a multi purpose knife. It still has enough of a plain edge to do any sort of slicing. Maybe ill choose a plain edge later. Ill give this a try first though and see if i use the serrations or not.

Agreed but with all the good things i hear about this blade maybe its worth the investment if its going to last me a good while.

Have a Ritter Mini w Kevin Wilkens scales as my main work knife. Awesome, and changes grip to a squared off, easier for me to handle knife. Have had them in titanium, al, and G-10. Titanium makes it feel and look almost like a CRK. Worth getting for all Griptillians I think.

Nice choice. The Grip was the knife that got my addiction started. That thing is only going to get better with time as the pivot and Axis lock settle in to become buttery smooth. Enjoy!
