My first ever Dagger W.I.P.

Starting to hand finish the bevels.

A quick etch to see what we've got.

With the guard

Time to layout the ferrule and start the handle

Slotted the ferrule

Ground to shape

fit in place

I layout the filework on a piece of masking tape to transfer to the curved surface of the ferrule

Light passes with a triangle file used to start the filework

rough filework done

now drill clear through the handle material (alternative ivory, I'm not quite ready for the high dollar stuff)

Fit up to the tang

A little bit of taper ground in

Braze on a threaded rod for the butt plate

first dry fit, nifty

now take the handle material off to layout for the flutes

ghetto layout jig

string is handy

Light passes with the triangle file again to start our flutes

and then with the chainsaw file to finish the flutes

Finally got a minute to finish the pics out, the knife has been done for 2 weeks now......


Got the butt cap in place, it's aligned via three hidden pins and the hole is drilled and counter sunk for the screw on tailpiece

Getting things shaped up

carry the flutes into the buttcap

now I just need to finish polishing it up and blue the fittings
