My first Fiddleback

Congratulations on a super price for a super knife. Unlike many here, the Shadetree burlap is not a favorite of mine as far as esthetics go. I much prefer the esthetics of wood. But as far as a user knife is concerned, I do like the burlap very much. I own multiple examples of it, and it is a great handle material. I own Fiddlebacks in every handle material that Andy has made to my knowledge. From a user standpoint, the burlap is my favorite followed closely with canvas micarta, then linen micarta, G10 then wood. For esthetic purposes, I would almost reverse the order except that I would put burlap above either of the other fabric micartas.

Welcome to the family! The KE Bushie is a great model. One of my favorites.

Looking at the pictures on TKC - you scored a great example of it. Awesome spalting, tapered tang, shadetree... And at a steal nonetheless.

Congrats.

I have a KEB, and use it on a regular basis! It's a very cool and useful profile! I often carry a larger knife when in the woods for a few days, but honestly, I probably should have my KEB with me, she's capable of doing most anything I need and saves a bunch of weight.

Great knife at a great price. I really like Oreo Burlap, and the tapered tang is always a great option. I wish I did as well as you did with my first Fiddleback!

So, what model are you going to try next? And, yes, there will be a next one!

The other models I'm interested in are the bushfinger, kephart, and bear cub. I like others as well, but those are my favorites so far. I'm sure I'll learn more about my likes/dislikes once I've handled this KE Bushie. It's got big shoes to fill as its replacing 2 Doziers, a k2 general purpose (I have a k5 already which is the same blade shape so this is redundant) and a modified personal (the handle is too small for my hands). As far as handles go I love the way FF does bolsters so I'll be looking into a bolstered version.

KSF has some very nice kepharts and a couple bear cubs right now. You may want to check them out.

All three of the models that you mentioned are great. Personally, my favorite out of the 3 is the Bushfinger. However, most every Fiddlback is awesome in its own way and searching for the elusive "perfect" Fiddleback is a big part of the adventure. Welcome the the addiction and have fun!!!!

I'm a fan of the KE Bushie as well. Kevin and I are good friends as well. We've been thinking of doing a survival class in the woods north of here. I haven't made much progress though...
