My first folder is here... and I am very happy with it!

Get some tuff glide or what ever to keep the pivot clean and oiled. Don't use the tip as a screwdriver or pry bar. Get a $6 screwdriver and pass on the blue box.
Use it, make sure it's legal to carry it clipped in your pocket in your city

Hello,

A big THANKS to each one of you who has taken the time to read my post and offer your advice in keeping my first folder in good shape for the years (or perhaps months....hehe!) to come. In the next few days, I shall decide what products, which some of you suggested, I should buy to help me keep the folder nice, clean, lubricated and sharp... the way it is supposed to be, from the little that I know about knives.

Best wishes,

Edalb

oh wow! that is certainly better than my first folder! ($5 dollar crap, got from friend for $30)

congrats!

I actually suggest Miltec-1, it is perhaps the best one. You can even contact them and get a free sample for free.

Also you could get the benchmade tool box, very nice. perhaps a sharpmaker too? :)

Don't send it to the first poster to say, "It's junk, send it to me, I'll dispose of it for you."

Hold out for a trade for a William Henry, Sebenza, SnG, or something that will do as well. :D

Great first knife.

You know, this knife has such a sharp blade that I am affraid that by sending it to you you might hurt yourself and I would want that to happen:D. So, I'll keep it for myself....

Best wishes,

Edalb

I wouldn't snap the blade open too frequently. It's fun, but no need to put extra stress on the knife and I would be careful about who is around when you do it.

This is the last thing that I was expecting to read as advise but it is as important as anything else!!! You're absolutely right... use the folder if there is a need, otherwise just leave it alone.

Thanks,
Edalb

What a way to start your collection

Benchmade, S30V, and the Axis lock - you definitely did your research before picking this up. Congrats on a very nice knife which I have also been considering :D

Yes, I did my research before buying my very "first". My research started right from here, this excellent forum/library!

People here suggested a few alternatives to the folder I was initially planning to buy. Someone suggested the Benchmade. I searched on this from sunrise to sunset for a whole day and I decided that this folder should be my first one. I don't regret it a bit and I am glad that I listened to someone with a lot more experience than I. I love this knife! I do realize that it may sound naive, as I have nothing else in front of me to compare it with, but a well-researched "first" is/should be always liked/loved.

Best wishes,
Edalb

Congrats on your great score! Use it safely and have fun with it.

Very important point, don't ever loan this knife to anyone you don't know; and more importantly, don't know their what knife skills may be ... you do it once, and you could lose it, have it returned damaged, or worse .... It's not worth the risk.

Do what many of us do here and carry a throw away loaner for those you don't know who may want to borrow a knife.

Yeah... or just say "No... but I'll cut that for you." I carry one knife most of the time and I don't lend any of my knives (even the cheapies) to anyone else.
