My first folder sheath...WIP photos (lots of 'em!)

Here it is all done after top coat (Tandy Satin Sheen) and some more buffing:

The dye still looks mottled and a little iridescent after all is said and done, and it's still not my preferred look, but it doesn't look bad I suppose. It was a fun experiment and the next one should turn out better now that I have a feel for it.

rayban, I wore this sheath on my belt this afternoon, and it is really too tight as is. I'm sure it will loosen up with some use, but I'd be surprised if it became too loose. The knife snaps smartly in place when inserted, and pulls my pants up to my armpits when removing it.

Nice, one thing you can do is to just form with your fingers around
and over the clip portion, doesn't need to be too sharply defined
plus it will help not to compress the finish of the leather in that area too.

My limited experience with this leather tells me it will work/tool/mold and hopefully dye WAY better than the Tandy leather I started with. Wickett & Craig isn't cheap, but from my research is one of, if not the best, leathers you can buy.

I can agree with this much of the quote. Wickett and Craig is, and has been my choice for the past three years.

I have found two things to be very true:

1. The most expensive leather you can buy IS the cheapest you could find.....or to reverse the thought. The most expensive leather will have been the least expensive when you're finished.

2. If you use crap when you start a project, it will probably still look like crap when you finish.

Wicket and Craig is currently having a sale of sorts that I find very attractive. I buy the utility skirting and have it split to 7/8oz. and 2/3oz. I also buy it in four colors, russet, chestnut, brown and black. They are selling the skirting sides for $100 flat price each and that averages about $40 off per side when compared to the by the foot prices I used to pay.

This should be attractive to even the guys who only use about one side a year. I buy between 25 and 30 a year so it is really a saving for me.

Great pricing and , in my opinion, the best leather, that's a double whammy!

This looks really nice.

I'd like to find something like this in Kydex, rigged for horizontal carry.
