hi all, im new to all knife this business. Any advice on which good 'hi tech' folder, up to about 100$, to buy would be much appreciated.

Also i know its not for this forum being a fixed blade, but the SOG Seal 2000??? looks good to me tell me if im wrong :D

You posted your question in the "Traditional Folders and Fixed Blades" section of the forums. This, for most, would imply a slip joint type folder. Is that what you want? You reference to "hi-tech" would imply something other than a slip joint. If can help clarify you'll get tons of excellant suggestions. Any size restriction would help also.

Let us know, If you are not into a slipjoint or multiblade, I will be glad to move the thread. There are a lot of great knives out there at or below that price range and you should get quite a few excellent suggestions no matter which style you are interested in.

BTW :D Welcome to blade forums. I hope you enjoy this place

You know what i think your right, im after a modern style of joint, i dont really know what type either. In terms of blade length probably around 4 inches max. If you could move the thread to somewhere more appropriate i would be very grateful, thanks :)

Browsing the online knife shops is probably your best first step. Pay particular attention to the Spyderco and CRKT brands, as they'll have plenty of models in your price range.

Blindly suggesting a particular knife for your first folder, the model that immediately comes to mind is the Spyderco Delica or Endura.

Happy shopping,
Bob

thanks i was already thinking about spyderco or benchmade, they seem to be very popular and well made. Ill have a look at CRKT now thanks

You can begin narrowing your choices by researching various knife qualities and developing a set of preferences. Then search for reviews of particular knives that meet your criteria. Keep in mind that your budget is going to limit some choices for you, as it does for most of us.

Blade shape?
Blade steel?
Handle material?
Type of lock?
Opening method?
Brand preference?

p.s. You might consider two $50 knives instead of a single $100 knife. You'll double your knowledge and experience...
