I have been a knife collector of custom fixed blade knives for over 50 years and these are the only floders I have ever had. both knives were give to me from a friend. Skip told me that he purchased
them in the early 70,s. He did not have the boxes they came in. my qusetion is, what is the value of the two knives one in mint condition and the one is in near mint condndition. I am going to say the handles are STAGLON, when did they quite using stag and swich to STAGLON, and what would the value be if they had stag scales? Can you tell when they were made by the serial #285UH?

285 UH is the model number sorry, not a serial number.
As to production dates for this model, you should ask down at the Schrade Collectors area.
Ditto with the handle material question. I've never seen a UH trapper with anything but plasti-stag.

Value, best way to find out would be a Completed Items search at eBay. My guess, about $50. Would be higher if the original boxes were included.
