My First Framelock

I love the simplicity Ray. I have made a dozen or so of the liner lock and they have all ended up in the trash bucket. I don't think folks know how difficult these guys are to make. Pat yourself on the back for this one.

Jim,
Contact Mike Vagnino. He has a step by step guide to making linerlocks. It is very detailed and simple to follow. I learned from this booklet. I don't know how much he charges for it now but it's dirt cheap. If you can do lockbacks and slipjoints, you can do linerlocks no problem. Email me if you're interested and I'll give you his contact info.

Wow! have to echo the other comments about it not looking anywhere close to your first effort. Anyone would jump to have this in their pocket.

Thanks, Ray!
I appreciate the info. That cut turned out really nice, and I already have all that stuff in my shop.........:D

Guys, thanks for the comments. I really apreciate the kind words.

kingsqueak, I thought about using flathead screws on the ones that go through the spacer but since the stop pin and pivot screws had to be button head, I thought it would be better to have them all the same..

I use Dremel type cut off wheels on a drill press to cut the lockbar. Here's a picture of the cut. This one turned out real nice.

I got to look at this one today, and it is really something. I talked with Ray about using a variety of materials for the non-lock scale. He has a lot of different things - different colors of G10 (even pink!), different micartas, or he could use titanium for that side, too. I told him to try carbon fiber, too, we'll see if that happens....

One day I will have one of these.

Love it. Something about the lines on your knives, both fixed and folders are super clean.

Your works are always a real pleasure.
Clean lines and functionality like few maker around.
Great job, I admire also this one.

Cheers

I really love the look and simplicity on this one Mr. Laconico! Personally I'd like to see a little jimping on the choil area but it's really beautiful as is. What sort of washers do you use?

*You've really piqued my interest with this framelock. Can you do one like this with a swedge like your other one and 3.5" blade?

I use teflon washers. Sure, this one can be done with a swedge. I was going to put a swedge on this but I liked it the way it is so I decided not to. Thanks!

I've noticed that the word "clean" keeps coming up in this thread. I wholeheartedly agree.

This framelock is so simple & clean it's ridiculous. It's what make this knife so beautiful.

Thank you for sharing pics of your work.
