My First GEC (pics added)

Lol na, I got the 72 in the purple jigged bone. I really wanted to get a 73 like johnny has but that search turned up nothing. Did you get your gec's from the same place you got that queen?

I did not, did you? I actually got them from two separate places. Email me if you want more info.

Well I just got it. I have to admit it looked bigger online lol. I love it though, it fits in my hand perfectly and the plum bone is beautiful. I'll post some pics up when I get a chance!

Can't wait to see it. I have been using my cocobolo 72 today, and the more I use it the more I love it.

I've been looking all over for a 72 wharncliffe in ebony. Can't wait to see what you scored.

Sorry for the crappy pics guys, there inside pics. Could this be the reason for the vertical blade play?

I don't think the end of the knife handle would have any effect on blade play.

The locking surfaces are at the other end. Couple things would affect vertical blade play. The surfaces of the lock and the tang with notch where the locking bar fit have to be mated pretty darned good. If they are not, you get that forward to backward wiggle.

Also, if the lock is not stiff enough, you can get the same (that would be a problem with the lock bar spring).

Sure is a great looking knife. Hopefully you can resolve the lock play issues. (I would love to order one, but hesitate).

I'm not sure what the problem could be, but I dealt with that in one of my #72s, I sent it to GEC and they had it back to be in a couple of weeks and it had a very tight lock up.
It's been put through it's doses since I got it back and it still locks up nicely.

If it's bothering you, I would contact the dealer or GEC and ask for repair, or replacement.

It is a beautiful knife though, congrats.
