Thanks again for all the comments guys. I've been opening and closing the knife trying to break it in and the pull seems to be getting a little bit easier. I would imagine after a couple months of use it will feel about right. Here's a pic after using the knife for a couple of days. Man, that 1095 patinas quick. It started changing color the instant it hit some fruits and veggies.
Give it some time My GEC73 WAS a nailbreaker. Now it is super smooth. I don't see the spring weakening, but the edges that create the half stop effect on the tang of the blade will round and smooth out over time making for a much smoother, fluid and easier opening and closing knife.
