Hi all. For a long time I've never really seen the point of spending a lot of money on a axe. For so long of my life an axe has seemed like a shed tool that you hang next to the shovels. But I finally decided to pick up a nice GB axe and the difference is extremely noticable between this and a $25.00 hardware store axe. I can tell that this is a tool designed for people that use axes for a living and not just to chop up the ocassional log in the yard. Fantasic quality and razor stinkin sharp. It's the Scandi Forest model. I like this model... not quite as large and heavy as I like a fullsized axe to be but far more powerful and versatile than a small hatchet. I think it's a great compromise in size and weight for an all purpose wilderness survival axe. And it's just light and short enough to be used as a weapon should one need to (Like a hawk)... perhaps not as well suited to that task as a hawk... but will do in a pinch. I love it. Anyone know anybody that makes kydex sheaths for these things without needing to have my axe shipped to them. The leather is nice... but I don't see it lasting forever.

Thats the Model I have. Your going to like it....As for a kydex sheath I would look in the sheath section on the forum.

Do you find yours to be a good all around tool? I know it can't do the chopping of their larger heavier axes... but I can't imagine needing to take out such a large tree in the woods without a chainsaw on hand.

Nice Axe ! I like that Model, The Scandanavian Forest Axe "That's what you want for building that Log Cabin ! Enjoy your New Axe & Thank's for sharing the picture's,

I'm new to the world of axe so i have a question about the grain on this handle.

It don't look like a straight grain is it ?

btw very nice axe! I recently ordered a Wetterlings in the same size (19'' handle)

I thought about getting the GB 19" Small Forest Axe... but I got this one instead since it had a 25" handle and a half pound more weight in the head coming in at 2lbs instead of 1.5. I thought it would make for a slightly more verstile axe. Still quite packable though.

Ho i thought you're was a small forest axe...sorry :D

for the bigger job i use my Iltis ox-head 24''

i'm thinking about getting a longer axe,something like 28'' or 30'' and a smaller hatchet too...and i'm waiting for 2 tomahawks lol

I become addict!

Yeah... I'm gonna have to get that Gransfors American Felling Axe. it's 35 inches and has a 3.5lbs head I think. That's a nice axe. Don't really use hatchets much... I'm more of a large fixed blade guy as you can see in the picture.

Honestly. you wouldn't put a lovely axe like that out in a old cold tool shed next to a dirty old shovel:barf:

I recently got a GB Wildlife hatchet and it is still on top of my dresser, but its handy there.:) Pat
