I dicided to practice grinding on some (way too thick) welding flat stock of unknown composition, and now I'm kinda' bummed out because I like what I did! I just grabbed some scrap metal from work and went to town on my new Craftsman grinder. I cut the shape with a portable band-saw and did all the grinding freehand with 80 grit (all I have is 80 and 120).
It's far from perfect, but it's not the prison shank I thought I'd be making. I think next time I'll hand file the plunge line, I need to research it a bit more.
How'd I do?
