hi guys. first time post here. been very very eager to start making my knives ever since i was younger but never had the room. now that i got my own man cave to work in, garage lol, i thought id give it a go. Im building a Grinder in a box. most of the build is done just need to attach my platen and drill a few holes for the tool rest. Was very pleased to find out that my order from wayne coe came in today. Aside from not recieving my wire set that i paid for the motor was a bit heavier that expected. I quickly unpackaged the motor and set it on the grinder base for a quick mock up and found that almost all of the holes predrilled on the grinder did not match up with the motor holes. It is a 56c frame like it should be as per jamie but the foot holes done line up nor the the holes on the upright. Has anyone ran into this problem before? Is there some kind of trick to making this work without drilling? any help would be amazing.

Do you mean the face holes do not line up with the holes in the upright? The foot holes would be bolted to the base, not the upright

Are you sure it's a 56c mine bolted up fine.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1391518637.108001.jpg
I welded the upright piece to the base so I didn't use a motor with the base mount

what i mean is the foot of the motor, those holes dont line up. where the motor attaches to the upright those holes dont line up either.=[

Uhm... unless I'm missing something... twist the whole motor frame (clockwise, if facing the face of the motor) until the holes line up, or remove the motor and reinsert it into the frame with the holes lined up. Looks like they're in the right spot, you're just trying to fit the motor on at the wrong "angle."

Remove the base mount from the motor and turn motor till the hole line up on the upright the base mount doesn't have to be used

Something you might want to do is countersink the bolts on the face mount on mine I didn't when I putt it together and the belt would hit the bottom bolt head when I would adjust the tracking to the left after I countersunk them no more problems you can see here what I'm talking aboutImageUploadedByTapatalk1391539285.555056.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1391539285.555056.jpg

Yea i seen that and after attaching motor to the upright wall i found that the whole foot of the motor was on cockeyed. so im just going to cut it off as its welded in place. jeremy what size bolts did you use to attach the platen?
