Hi folks
FINAL PICTURES
Got the stand finished finally. I love this piece of Walnut, cut from the same plank. Bronze and copper to hold the club up.

I have always loved gunstock war clubs, they have such a refined and elegant form. So here is my first attempt at making one. I carved the stock from a big piece of Walnut and the blade is from an old forged buggy spring. I file worked the edges of the stock in places and plan to add some 1/4 inch headed brass tacks down the spine when I can find some (all they sell up here in the boonies are gold plated junk)
I had a rawhide wrap around the grip area but didn't like it, may do another type of wrap, not sure. Also have to make a blade cover of course. Just thought you'denjoy seeing it as is.

I have added 4 new pics of the club finished other than the stand. Added more small brass tacks, a handle wrap in dyed Deerhide and a tacked and dyed yellow latigo blade cover.
Best regards to all

Robin

Nice, that rock gets to see some gems lol

The stuff gets to lay on a nice pillow of moss. ;-) I should use some of the other rocks I have here. This country is nothing but rock with a few inches of topsoil.

That is WAY to pretty to be called a weapon, more like fine furniture.....that will also kill you. I have got to do me one of these. The victim would probably compliment you on the finish as they were bleeding. Nice job Brother, the standard just went UP another notch.........Randy

Thanks Bro
I'm my own biggest critic but I'm pretty happy with this club. I think i'm going to do more small tack work and likely do a Deerhide grip and then a stand for it. Thanks again Randy, your opinion means a lot to me.

That is awful pretty wood, skillfully shaped, and it the spike would make a good-sized hole in someone's skull. I approve. :)

Final pics coming soon, just working on a stand (in my mind))))

Real sweet leatherwork as always. This club calls to mind that badass dude from Last of the Mohicans movie.... just to be clear the one you just put together is a LOT nicer.
