My first H1. Have to love it

I bought a salt 1. Received it on Wednesday. Have to say that I love the knife. After using it, I know that most of my other regular folders are going to see a lot less use. I love the fact that I can walk my dog, with the knife in my hand, and I dont have to wipe it down when I get back in. The fact that this steel has the edgeholding it does, with absolutely no worries of rusting, really makes it one of the best knives available in my opinion.

The only thing I dont like on it is the clip. I have heard people complaining about clips on many knives in the past and I never really understood why. But this one rides very high for my personal tastes. I do however, understand that it was probably designed that way, to make it easier for people in marine environments to get the knife quickly out of the pocket.

What I would absolutely love to see, is more models made with this steel, especially some of the higher end blades with G10. I think a paramilitary in H1 would be my ultimate folder.

Spyderco has recently passed benchmade for me as my favorite folder company. I currently own a black coated plain edge para, a foilage green d2 para, a mini manix, a co-pilot, a lava, a G10 delica, and of course my salt 1. 5 of these were purchased within the last 3 months. Also had a native that I gave to a neighbor who helped us out during hurricane gustav. I am really loving my spydies.

I am with you Bax Axe! H1 is a really awesome blade steel. For some stupid reason I got rid of my Tasman salt a while back. Just the other day I found a great deal on a Aqua Salt. I have been desiring a good fixed blade and I can't wait to beat the crap out of the Aqua Salt when it arrives! I'll probably write up a little review once I put it through some hard work.

Gongrats on your Salt 1. I've had a Salt 1 SE for about 3 years now. I have a landscape company and use my Salt 1 hard. Nobody does pinned blades as well as Spyderco. H1 steel gets marred up really easy but that is just cosmetic. H1 holds an edge really well. The SE edge rips through anything without any problems.
Enjoy.

I have a cool sense of relief in many ways when I'm carrying my Salt 1. Some of which are, it's corrosion proof (resistant), not overly expensive, holds a fine edge, enough so that you can really use it for several days between touch ups, I like the black on yellow in case I drop it in a river while fly fishing (I actually tie it to a long lanyard anyway), and it's VERY light!

H1 is the best...I'm pretty close to ordering a Ladybug Salt myself...to go with my Salt I and Tasman.

The Salt 1 has been my primary carry knife for the better part of two years now. I prefer the higher ride clip so I can get to my knife easier. I also like the non lined FRN handles to keep weight down. This knife literally goes ANYWHERE without issue. Gym shorts, jeans, on my life vest, climbing harness, everything. If I could own one Spyderco the Salt 1 is it.

I prefer the Delica/Endura 3 models over the newer steel lined ones as well. I'm a bit different. :)
