My First HI Kukri!

My sirupati's (the 20.5 or the 25) are not light, but they seem so well-balanced in my hand they seem lighter than they are. I don't understand why, I just feel it. I've come to think that the longer the khukuri, the less effort I have to expend. It would be nice to have one compact enought for edc,but then how effective could it be?

You have ''light&fast'' now you must try the awesome power of a mighty AK, M43 or Bonecutter!!! After that, experience a Foxy Folly singing to you as it slashes thru wood. Oh, the history inherent in the BAS & WWII.........

I'm glad you've finally picked up a real khukuri HD. It's hard to stop at less than 30-40 once you get started though. My avatar is a small portion of my HI collection.

At least HD will never be able to say he wasn't warned! ;)

I'm looking for my third HI Khuk in lest than a month, but all things considered, it is an most pleasant affliction that it is shared by many others here! :D

The Busse Fat Battle Mistress weighs about 2 lbs. That is more than heavy enough for any chopper. It chops very well, but is just too heavy to carry around on my belt all day. There is a point where heavier just isn't practical in a knife. If I want a heavier chopper, I'll use my large axe. I am interested in some of the < 2 pound Khukuris, though.

The Ganga Ram Special might be up your alley in terms of heavier khuks, but a Sirupati, Chitlangi, or Kobra would probably make more sense for those times away from home when you want a longer khuk.

I don't know how thick or heavy it is, but that long Chitlangi that was sold yesterday looks great. I'm quite sure I'll be getting more HI Khukuris. :D

I don't know, either (other than some smaller ones, my larger khuks are all members of the Ang Khola family), but they look like they might be lighter (and look too awesome even if they're not lighter).

edited to add

The HI shopping site shows the 21" Chitlangi to weigh about 2 pounds and the 20" Ang Khola to weigh three to four pounds, they're 33-50% lighter.
