My first homemade becker scales from burl wood

Just saw this thread. Outstanding work. Great to have you around.

Great job on those scales, and I'll echo the welcome. I love a nice set of wood handles, and it looks like you did excellent work, and found a nice burl as well. Is it stabilized or natural?

reminds me of a table I used to have. it had these little knot looking whirles though the burl. left it with family when I moved and think it was left in the house when it was for closed on. by by project wood lol. great job & nice stain even though I would go with a darker red maybe.

Absolutely top notch, first rate job. Wow. I was recently thinking of doing this, now I believe it to be a moral imperative. I think I'll probably go with burled tamarind. Do a google image search for that, it is incredibly beautiful and detailed wood.

Ya that is some cool wood. I just found another burl that I'm really excited to use, Its another oak piece and its light wood with really dark veins across it. the veins look just like a spider web its awesome!!!

first time? no way!! that is a great job..most impressed! and you couldnt have picked a more perfect piece of burl either wow so nice looking.
