I have had knives coated with BC (BM DOES offer several), and haven't had a problem with warranty.
I actually asked BM customer service, and was told that as long as it was reassembled properly (key word which have come up before) and not obviously abused, warranty still applies. Don't expect to get a coated blade in exchange, of course!
Add the Chromium nitrite layer prior to the BC if you need corrosion resistance, BC is only wear resistant...
