The Rule #9 is what I like to call a "crossover knife", meaning it will function very well as an all purpose woods knife, but can also do duty as a self defense or fighting knife with the pointy tip. Very versatile design.
As a martial arts instructor with blade training, I agree. It is light, takes an amazing edge, and has a decent tip. The thing that helps in the woods is the way the handle and blade meet for various grips and the long mostly straight cutting surface. Of course this is just my opinion.
