Thanks i really appreciatte that:D ,definately won't be my last one either;) ,After reading alot of these posts i'll have to make another with the habaki,rayskin etc.

figured i'd add a picture of the completed sheath with the sword,used padauk wood with buffalo horn for the tip,sheath opening and fitting where the wrap or loop goes (not sure what it's called)

your saya looks like mine, i had to make a new one, we chose the same stain color. lol. excellent job man, especially for your first try.

Thanks ,the saya it's the actual colour of the wood (no stain at all)with a clear laquer finish,i used African Padauk for the saya.I've got a few knives on the go right now,once their finished i'm going to be starting on a second katana,going to make that one with all the traditional fittings etc. but probably use either zebra wood or possibly bloodwood for the handle and saya on that one:D
