After tons of research, here is my first attempt at a knife. I made it out of 5/32" ATS-34 with brass pins a micarta scales. Lots of lessons learned on this project.
It's not perfect but overall I am pleased with this first try.
That looks like a strong serviceable knife! It's amazing how much different the scales look in those two photo's--I guess it's whatever is reflecting light that the scales are picking up--to me the scales in the second pic are MUCH lighter in tone than the first pic.
It would look and work better without that tit of metal sticking out below the ricasso. If you have a belt grinder you can grind it back. Either level with the edge, or all the way up so it makes a straight line between the top of the choil and just below the scales.
