I am an absolute beginner at this and have never touched steel to a belt. This is my very first design and would love everyone's thoughts on this. It's 7.5 inches long, 1.25 inches wide and I was thinking about 1/8th thick out of 1095. Any and all critique is more than welcome.

Looks nice to me! I wouldnt bother with attempting a swept plunge line on your first knife though.

My .2 cents, get in the shop and make what your inspiration tells you to make! You will scrap a billet or two of steel! SFW! ——————-Putting a profiled blank to the belt will teach you so much!——Stay safe & have fun!

Looks good. Try and stay simple and put most of your effort into the blade and its finish. I would take the long sweep off the top of the handle and make it merely turn down from the top. I would also have a tiny radius to the bottom of the handle scales instead of the sharp corner shown.

People always want to put a lanyard hole in their first knife. Later on you will realize that few knives need a lanyard. I would leave it off the first knife unless you are a dedicated lanyard user on your field knives.

Yeah, I was looking at that and thought to myself "I'm going to screw that up". So, take the bevel all the way to the spine?

I just saw that sharp corner on the scales at the bottom, that for sure needs rounded off a bit. That would help prevent the wood from cracking or chipping too right?

Looks like a great first design! I like to profile a new design in 1/4" wood and play with it for about a week. My wife finds it very annoying :) but I usually learn a thing or two about the proportions or details that you miss going from 2D to 3D.

The entire time I was drawing this I was thinking I should make a wood blank of it. That way if I like it I have a solid piece if wood rather than a junk piece of paper that could get damaged fairly easily.
