My first knife sale!

That is awesome Rob. Your looked so shocked it was funny. It's even cooler since you never expect auction pieces to go for what they are really worth (at least I never do). It was a very nice knife all around. I know one of Rob's knives is on my future wish list. No pressure bud. ;)

I'd like to thanks Rob and the group for the invitation down. It was a great day. The weather was beautiful, the people were fun and the knowledge flew freely. A prefect day. I'm looking forward to doing it again. If your within distance, it's a good trip, I'd recommend it.

Thanks again bud and congrats. See you in Timonium!!!

I'll trade ya! ;) In all seriousness though, I think that the best part of all of this for me are comments like the above. To know that somebody who's talent and work I respect so highly even thinks that my work is worth a second look is just unbelievable to me. Thanks for the compliment!

I kind of wish somebody had taken a picture of the look on my face at the close of the auction...I wish *I* could have seen what I looked like!

You'll see me sooner than that! :D

Way to go Rob. Set that bar high and jump. When you get down off that cloud....Enjoy as long as possible... get back to work. Most of us started with simple steels and work towards damascus....but not you.
It was fun forging next to you. I even learned some. That tip on setting hidden tang pins Jay's way will go far. Thanks! I'll use it on the 2 I forged in the demo.
Great demo on how to abuse steel with examples that worked just like you planned.

Hey, I STARTED with simple steels, I just wasn't happy with my results! :D You just wait until I get a press!

Thank J. for that one, not me! Maybe for next year we can work on some collaborative demonstrations and see how quickly we can get something cool finished or something.

I've done that one a few times. Nothing gets people to understand grain growth faster than showing them how it really happens in a very visual way.

Glad you made it out and thanks for letting us sucker you into demonstrating. I want to see the blades you forged out when you get them finished!

Thanks J. I'll have to get up your way for some more tips.

I'll post the picts when they are done.

While there I forged a 12" bladed Kris (20" OAL) from start through HT is about 1 hour. It took 35 minutes to forge it. All bevels and the flambarge are forged, not ground. I'll finish it up and construct the hardware this week and post some photos later.

Looking forward to the finished blade.
