My first knife

Well, I kinda think I found a basic pattern.... still needs a few modifications, any insights?

I'd say it's a good start. Your handle shape looks a little off though. The top of the handle should be curved downward instead of upwards. The way it is drawn I don't think it would be comfortable to hold.

If you do some cardboard cutouts of different handle shapes, you will get a better idea of how this will feel in your hand.

What is the circular cutout at the back of the handle?

The only problem I see is at the blades edge where it straightens out and heads towards the handle. It looks too flat, you didnt leave enough steel. Narrow the blade, edge to spine by 1/16. The shape itself is really nice, should mankebabnice blade. Good luck.

Keep the first ones shape simple the less curves you have the less you have to cut a way

I have to disagree with you. Each knife should be made to the best of your abilities. A good design is the start to a good overall knife, and that often means there will need to be curves and contours to it. You don't want the knife to look like the bar of steel it was made from.

I'm actually going to make this design (or really close to it) out of wood and see what it feels like
